Advice First Aid / Volunteer Introduction Session
Helping you to help others to find a way forward. You may come into contact with people for a whole range of reasons; through your job, volunteering, or simply because you’re someone people turn to in your local community. Often the problems people need help with - such as debt, managing finances, or housing difficulties – are complex, and you don’t know what the right first steps should be. If you often find yourself in these situations, our Advice First Aid course is for you.
This course won’t make you a trained adviser, but you can help take those important first steps with problems that seem complicated or intimidating. Advice First Aid will help you to:
• identify common advice problems
• build confidence about how to start and have supportive conversations
• develop knowledge about what local resources and organisations are out there to offer help, including Citizens Advice Rushmoor and our team of expert advisers
• better find the right support together
The course lasts about 90 minutes. There’s lots of time for questions and discussions – with opportunities to try out some practice scenarios with other attendees. After the session we will be available to discuss volunteering opportunities with Citizens Advice Rushmoor if this is something you're interested in. You will be guided throughout the course by a team of expert advisers from Citizens Advice Rushmoor - and will receive a certificate on successful completion.
As a local charity, and our community’s only dedicated advice service, no-one else sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems. That gives us a unique insight into the challenges people are facing today - and how we can work together to help.
