VCS Emergencies Partnership – Capability Quarterly Events

VCS Emergencies Partnership are sharing the details of next month’s capability quarterly, taking place on Thursday 20^th October below!

10:00-11:00 How to solve a problem like surplus donated goods, via this link

Exploring the recurring problem of surplus donated goods at times of emergency, our collective responsibility in tackling it and changing the culture of public giving. Shelley Hart from Havering Volunteer Centre will share some of the learning from their role in both the Afghan resettlement response and the recent Wennington fires which saw families displaced and a huge outpouring of community support. The VCS Emergencies Partnership team will share some of it’s own learnings and recommendations and details of our recent work with the Charity Retail Association. This session is open to all, however will be of particular interest to colleagues from your organisations who are focused on comms and messaging to this session. Please extend the invite to them.

11:00-12:00 Cost of living crisis - 'What are we doing differently?', via this link

Building on the discussions at the July capability event, this time we seek to explore what organisations are doing differently in light of the crisis. Selina Rodrigues from Community Barnet will talk about the formation of the London borough’s cost-of-Living Task and Finish group, formed after last quarters meeting. The VCS Emergencies Partnership Knowledge & Insights Lead will share collated data from across the sector followed by some discussion and examples of how organisations are using data to inform their action.

Outcomes: Both sessions will follow a similar format of introduction, scene setting and exploratory discussion with partners and focus on identifying actions to support forward progression of work in these areas.
