The David Riddell Memorial CIO offers mall project grants of up to £25,000 and large grants of over £25,000 are available to UK registered charities and Community Interest Companies with an annual income of under £1 million for programmes and activities that reduce deaths by suicide and/or improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 10 to 23.
The overarching mission of the David Riddell Memorial CIO is to lower the number of deaths by suicide. The charity awards grants to other charities and Community Interest Companies (CICs) in the UK that are working to reduce deaths by suicide and/or improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people. Innovative proposals from smaller charities and CICs are particularly welcomed.
Applications must be for charitable purposes that fall into one of the following categories:
1. Programmes and activities that aim to support, maintain and improve the mental health and well-being of young people (from 10 to 23 years old), or
2. Suicide awareness and support programmes.
Small and Large Grants are available:
Small Grants
Discretionary grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 are made where trustees consider that their contribution would make a real difference to suicide awareness or mental health and well-being, with priority given to innovative projects.
Large Grants
Are made at the instigation of the trustees to fund charities which the trustees believe will directly impact its mission to lower the number of deaths by suicide.
Eligible organisations are asked to send a brief memo (no more than two sides of A4) by email to info@davidriddell.org containing the following:
o Charity name, number, and address.
o Contact details of the applicant.
o An overview of the charity, including the stated aims and objectives of the organisation, website address, number of staff and volunteers employed, and the number of beneficiaries.
o Confirmation (if applicable) that the organisation has a child protection policy in place.
o Confirmation that the organisation has public liability insurance in place.
o Forecast income and expenditure for the current financial year, and
o A summary of the proposed project, detailing how the project will make a difference to the recipients and how the group will measure the outcomes.
Projects the charity is interested in supporting will be contacted by the Grants Team to discuss the project further. This can include an assessment visit or video call from one of the trustees.
Applicants should allow at least 3 months for their application to be assessed and to receive a reply.
