Hullabaloo – a celebration of science, nature, carnival arts and community

Hullabaloo is a vibrant and original event for the whole family, put on by Shademakers UK in collaboration with The Common Space in Sandown Bay, running from Friday 14th October to Sunday 16th October. It is a completely FREE event and has been running since 2017 attracting large crowds of locals from across the Island.
 
This year Community Action IW is supporting the event and would like to invite you, our voluntary sector partners to join in and be part of the weekend. Whether you are looking to spread the word about the work you do, trying to recruit new volunteers or simply want to network with other organisations, this is an excellent opportunity to take part in a lively and colourful event by the sea!

DISCOVERY BAY TENT – this marquee will see a fascinating range of science based activities including Biology Big Top, The National Poo Museum, shows from the Winchester Science Museum and Cloud Scapes, iWatch and BioBlitz, IW Zoo's enrichment and much more. 
FUNKY TENT - this marquee will see makers and creators, storytelling, spoken word and more
TALK TENT – Enjoy talks on a range of topics about science, art and community.
CULTURAL CONFERENCE – IW Creative Networks are holding a mini-conference on Friday 14th as part of this year’s Hullabaloo  
CYCLE CIRCUS  - Have a go at trying weird and wacky wheeled contraptions from
Big Top Mania
WACKY RACES CARDBOARD CHALLENGE – Build a creation out of cardboard and take part in a “Wacky Race”. Adult and childrens’ categories – the “rules” are vague!
CARNIVAL PICNIC – Bring a picnic and say hello to Shademakers’ Carnival creatures who will be walking through the picnic area on Saturday afternoon.
SHADY LADY STAGE - This impressive carnival Ship stage will host an eclectic mix of bands, dance troupes & DJs
WALKABOUTS AND STALLS - there will also be plenty of interesting and unusual sights to see and activities to try  including willow walk and stalls.
