Understanding Bowel Cancer

Bowel Cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK but bowel screening uptake is lower in people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

What will be in the talk?
A volunteer speaker will highlight the following key awareness messages:
• Prevalence – learn that bowel cancer is more common cancer than people think
• Signs and symptoms – learn about the five most common symptoms
• Risks – gain an understanding of the risk factors associated with bowel cancer
• Bowel screening – learn about the NHS bowel screening programme and the importance of taking part
There will also be an opportunity to ask the volunteer speaker any questions you might have. Very often, they have had personal experience of bowel cancer, and therefore have a great deal of knowledge and wisdom to share.
