Deadline 2026/07/15 The Wildlife Trusts Green Community Grants Programme
Application deadline: 15 July 2026
The Wildlife Trusts Green Community Grants Programme provides one-year flexible funding support for not-for-profit groups in England, Scotland and Wales working towards environmental sustainability, nature recovery and community access to nature-rich spaces.
The funding themes include contributing to nature recovery and responding to the climate emergency, improving nature-rich spaces and access to them.
The programme offers grants of up to £25,000 to eligible not-for-profit organisations with an annual income between £10,000 and £1 million. Organisations must have been operating for at least 12 months and their main objectives, as stated in their governing documents, must align with one of the programme’s funding themes.
Funding can support a wide range of sustainable activities, including recycling, litter picking, beach cleans and sustainable transport initiatives. The programme supports both coastal and marine-focused organisations as well as organisations working in inland communities.
Applications are expected to focus on organisations whose core purpose and main activities directly relate to nature and sustainability rather than individual projects within unrelated areas of work. Funding requests must not exceed 25% of the organisation’s annual income shown in its latest signed accounts.
Priority will be given to organisations with an income between £10,000 and £250,000, those working in communities within the top 15% of the Index of Multiple Deprivation, organisations supporting marginalised groups including disabled people, communities experiencing racial inequity and LGBT+ people, and organisations whose governing documents focus on habitat or species restoration and protection.
The programme encourages funded organisations to share citizen science and monitoring data with relevant national reporting schemes and Local Environmental Records Centres.
